TAFE gets Sharkbite
(21/6/2006)
TAFE NSW has added the new Sharkbite fitting by Crane Copper Tube into its curriculum for apprentice plumbers.
Sharkbite is a unique push-fit joining system for copper tube. The fitting simply pushes onto the prepared copper tube end. An internal O-ring provides a high pressure, watertight seal, while the Sharkbite teeth retain the tube.
“It took the students about two hours to complete a project we gave them using Sharkbite, where it would take about 5 to 6 hours using capillary fittings,” says Gary Cook, teacher at North Sydney TAFE. The Sharkbite is fully self-contained with no additional components to fit or adjust and are available to cater for most standard onnection requirements for copper tubes up to 1” diameter.
It provides super-fast installation and a reliable high-pressure watertight seal – all the benefits of copper tubing with the added convenience.
